As a sophomore at the University of
Houston, I intend to graduate in May 2017 with a Bachelor of Sciences in Health.
While working toward my
degree, I plan to prepare for pharmacy school and gain experience in
the field. From my interaction through project and activities that related healthcare, I realize becoming a pharmacist can fulfill my hope and interest.
Throughout my education career, I have researched and involved in difference
aspects of health. Currently, I am a pharmacy technician trainee at
Walgreen in Houston, Texas.
I am an immigrant from Vietnam. Our family moved to the United States, the land of freedom, to seek for a high quality of life and educational opportunities that were not available to us in Vietnam. My parents struggle with obstacles due to low language proficiency, they could not find high income jobs to support our family. The struggles my family has endured do not stop me from achieving high academic performance. Instead, they inspire me to pursue a higher education. I believe that by going to college and receiving a bachelor’s degree, I will have a better chance to attain a successful career in the future. That way I’ll be able to financially and intellectually help my family, so that we no longer bear the judgmental mind set of illiteracy from other people and I hope to become a role model for my younger sister and others who face the same obstacles.
