Blood  Drive  Coordinator
In my last year of high school, I have hosted the first blood drive in my school with the purpose to help save lives in the Gulf Coast Region. While planning for this event, I learned and attained lots of management skills. Below is some of the work that I have done for the event:
  • Work with the blood center and the school for approval of the event
  • Recruit volunteers and blood donors
  • Arrange appointment for each donors during their class period

I organized various sessions for volunteers and fellow students to educate and raise awareness regarding the importance of giving back. This project had prepared me to be globally competent and college ready. In the near future, I would like to use these skills and knowledge from the blood drive to host other events that could bring further benefits and opportunities to my community. In February 2014, I attended the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center Awards Ceremony in Houston Downtown. I was invited as a pioneer representative for the nomination of the New School of the Year award.

Research  about  Health  Related  Topic
In addition, I have also utilizing research opportunity of my regular course work to further learn and explore about the topic in health. Below is a blog and sample writing from these courses:

In my “Technology Information” class, I have prepared a blog informing about a liver disease known as hepatitis.

In my “English” class, I wrote a research paper analyzing the most effective approach for returning veterans with Post-Traumatic Stress from Iraq/Afghanistan War.

Volunteer  Activities
Ever since high school, I have joined difference volunteer activities within clinic. In my junior year, I was working as a nurse assistant of my school. This opportunity was first introduced me into the health setting. Along with the experience, I have also met Nurse Adams who has encouraged me to host the blood drive as mentioned above.

In my second year of college, I applied to volunteer at St. Joseph Medical Center.  This setting allows me to explore and familiar into one of my prospective career of health in the future.
